Dr John George is one of the few recognised South East Asian Musculoskeletal Radiologists with extensive experience in both MRI and Musculoskeletal Ultrasound . He works closely with the Orthopaedic , Sports Physicians , Rheumatologists and Rehabiliation Physicians and has very good clinical knowledge and feedback on his cases.
He created history by being the first South East Asian to be elected a member of the Skeletal Society of North America(SSR) and has been the only Asian Member  to present at the North American meeting recently .  He has also presented at  like the Radiological Society of North America, the Australasian Musculoskeletal Imaging Group(AMSIG) and also regional meetings such as Asian Musculoskeletal Society and Regional Orthopaedic and Non Radiology meetings.   He really enjoys conducting workshops now more than just single lectures as he is able to impart much more during workshops which is much more application centred to his audience. Orthopaedic Surgeons now request him to teach Basic Reading Skills of Musculoskeletal MRI and he recently concluded a very successful programme in Sabah , East Malaysia teaching MRI of the Spine and MRI of the Knee Basic Reading Skills over one and a half days. ( Please see the publications and presentations section in his CV which has just been updated .

Dr John George has put Malaysian Musculoskeletal Radiology on the world scene with his original work on meniscocapsular injuries of the knee ,  an excellent cartilage and mapping sequence and also age estimation using MRI.  All these articles are in excellent journals and the latter papers in the British Journal of Sports Medicine which has an impact factor of nearly 2.0. His book has also made excellent sales throughout ASIA as it one of first books in ASIA that combines MRI and Ultrasound images of the Musculoskeletal system.  He has 35 journal publications and nearly 100 National and International Presentations. (

Dr John George was instrumental in proposing and forming the Asian Musculoskeletal Group with the assistance of two colleagues in Asia.  There is now an Annual Refresher Course held in one Asian country every year and in Indonesia this course was very popular with an an attendance of over 300 radiologists who were taught by the prominent Musculoskeletal Radiologists in Asia including Prof. John George.   He runs a new and innovative international course in Jakarta which trains at least 20 radiologists at a time intensively in Hand on Musculoskeletal MRI and Ultrasound .  He has outstanding testimonials from the participants including our foreign participants from the Phillipines which have been posted on his website .  The testimonials put him as one of the best teachers in Asia.

His material is extensively researched and he speaks using own material collected from actual clinical cases he has performed with anecdotes etc which make his lectures entertaining.  Even though I am a Senior Consultant Radiologist , I always learn something new from his lectures and he constantly updates and makes his talks more interesting from year to year .  The next course will be very interesting as he combines MRI and Ultrasound teaching for the Radiologists and also runs specific ultrasound training for the non Radiologists useful to their specialty.  Rotating supervisors will ensure that all participants will get the teaching from all trained supervisors.  Six equipment maximum 4 participants to each machine and nearly 4-5 hours of Hands on per day including free sessions will ensure you are able to do and show to the examiners at the end of the course that you can do the procedures and interpret MRI common pathology extremely well.

From his CV, his awards and top positions in National professional and advisory committees is very impressive.  He has also been part of the team or team leader almost every year in award winning projects or nominated for top awards which is an achievement that speaks of the high quality of his work and presentations.   I note also that his position papers to the government in his capacity as Chairman of Government doctors of Malaysia and now as member of the National Health Policy Committee of MMA have been successful in giving his colleagues , staff in the hospital and civil servants several concessions and perks from the government.

In summary ,  is a proven Master teacher and top Musculoskeletal Researcher in this region giving much prestige to his department and the University of Malaya .  Register and you will be amazed at how much you will improve in MRI interpretation and also be able to finally understand the value and perform Musculoskeletal Ultrasound.
