A)Faculty:
Course Director:

Prof Dr John George :  His CV full CV is linked to the website jsjn.info and numerous testimonials are listed here and in other postings on the website.  He is a gifted teacher with a knack to get the message across . As many have said " We finally understood " .  That sums it all.  Do you want to finally understand MSK MRI and perform MSK ultrasound with all secret tricks of the trade.  Then this is the course to attend.  Its worth it. He has reported thousands of MSK MRI since 1996 and performed thousands of muculoskeletal ultrasound since 1998.  He teaches from personal experience (he does all MSK ultrasound himself after taking a history and performing basic physical examination) and is very generous to share his tips and pearls from his years of experience .  From his testimonials , there is no doubt he is a Master teacher .

Dr Daniel Makes:  Consultant Radiologist - Director of Indonesian Ultrasound of Medicine Institute (PUSKI) which has its own training centre where other of Prof Georges international courses are held.  PUSKI has its own website in Indonesian language.  Dr Daniel will show numerous videos of cases related to each lecture to bring home the points and cases shown by Prof Dr John George

Dr Lincoln Gillam:  North Coast Radiology, Queensland .  Has performed and read more than 14000 MSK MRI and ultrasound . MSK Fellowship : Toronto , Canada.  He has particular experience in MRI hip (femoroacetablular impingement) and MRI wrist and fingers(pulleys) and will be a  demonstrator .

Dr Paul Johnson:  Vancouver Clinic, Oregon , USA. Also trained in musculoskeletal ultrasound guided injections by the Wisconsin group in USA.
Sports Physician with interest in " Injection of joints and tendons with injectables under ultrasound guidance" who will share his experience . He is also very adept at Musculoskeletal ultrasound with physical examination correlation.  Big earnings for radiologists is going to be injecting expensive
injectables like PRP under ultrasound guidance as insurance will demand it to be injected under ultrasound guidance.  Paul Johnson has studied injection techniques under the Master teachers of the Wisconsin Group in the USA who the kingpins of correct techniques for injectables .

So save yourself a trip to the USA spending thousands to learn the correct injection techniques and skills for which you can charge RM200 per injection of these new regenerative injectables like PRP which insurance will eventually want injected under ultrasound guidance when the scientific papers come out on this topic.

Charge for 15 injections -20 injections or musculoskeletal ultrasounds when you return will already pay for this course. Your certificate will state that you have learned the correct technique to perform joint and tendon injections under ultrasound guidance which you can display in your office and advertise. This is the future for musculoskeletal ultrasound so be ahead of the rest and learn the correct technique to get the best results in your patients.

Dr Nazrila Hairani, one of the few certified MSK radiologists in Malaysia who trained under  Howard Galloway in Canberra who looked after many of the Australian National athletes training at the Australian Sports Council complex will assist .   She comes in as  participant/demonstrator.  Her place is pending Ministry of Health funding her subsidised registration.

So we have the luxury of 5 demonstrators but expenses will be more(but you get more individual attention and hands on ).  Since we have limited equipment sponsor money the registration has to cover the expenses.

Other equipment sponsors are not listed in the flyer as they are in the midst of consultation with their HQ to participate in the Penang meeting in March 2011.
We have presently approached Siemens, GE, Aloka and Esaote.

B)TESTIMONIALS ON PREVIOUS MSK MRI AND ULTRASOUND COURSES.

Most delegates , even those from centres of excellence in developed countries in South East Asia and East Asia found that they were getting only 50% of the diagnosis on the homework which surprised them a great deal.  In fact they were "in shock".
So they concentrated hard and were getting 80-90% of the diagnosis by the end of the course on the cases shown after the homework was completed .
For those who concentrated on the lectures and were not tricked by the tricky MCQs - improvement in knowledge was up to 30% in four days.

Here are some testimonials which are not modified despite different standards of English of the delegates who were in sincere in sending their comments.

Dear Professor George,

Thank you very much for organising the course.  I enjoyed it throroughly and am utterly thankful to my friend for referring me to it.  Every moment of the course was packed with teaching and learning and I can truly feel that you mean it when you said that you wanted to organise the best course in Asia and beyond.  Even though I have had little experience with other courses, my few days in Jakarta have left me with little reason to doubt that your course equals if not surpasses any course at a top centre in the USA, which certainly will not be offered at such a price.  I felt very inspired when you said that we as Asians should believe in ourselves and our ability to excel in the academia instead of always looking up to the West.   Your course has been an enormous help for me in providing me with a good foundation of knowledge and skills on which to expand and develop during my future as a radiologist, especially with the rich source of materials which you have provided.

I will most certainly recommend your course to my friends who are training in MSK and general radiology.  In a few years time I may even look forward to coming again to an advanced course.

Thank you very much again!

Regards,
Nin Yuan Pan

Dear Professor George,
Your  Musculoskeletal USG / MRI course  is one of the best radiology courses I have ever attended. Considering the practical aspect of the course, I think this course is excellent !! I will certainly recommend my friends to attend.

Thanks Prof George,
it was a great course and thanks for your teaching.
I already heard some of my colleagues wanted to join, but they just could not fix the job/leave in such a short time. They are envy of me having the opportunity to join the course. Anyway, i hope they could joint your course and pre-arrange leave beforehand.
Thanks for your teaching!

Dr Winne Chan , Hong Kong.

Dear Professor George ,

Sorry I haven't gotten around to send you an email to express my appreciation for such a wonderful and informative course. I have been gushing to my colleagues at Makati Medical Center about how the course has opened my eyes to MSK ultrasound and MRI. You  have been such a good teacher - so very patient and so enthusiastic. My colleagues do have plans to take your course in Jakarta or Penang. So I hope they learn and enjoy as much as I did.

Dr Menchu Verayo,
Consultant Radiologist
Makati Medical Centre , Phillipines.

C)MATERIALS FOR THE COURSE:

Photoprint colour powerpoint notes worth RM US100.00 one booklet in printing cost and intellectual property

Books, book chapters and articles by speakers  and gold winning software " Meniscal Calculator " which will be used in knee MRI evaluation  will be provided ( 4 GB of materials)  in a brand new USB flash  .  The  materials and USB is worth US 100.00 .

So US 200.00 of your registration fee is for materials that you will take home to refer to and learn further from reading the materials .

The flyers , registration form and programme for the conference are now ready .  Please email Prof Dr John George at msk.rad@gmail.com  to apply for a place on this course.  Prof George  is allocating the seats in such a way  to ensure fair distribution to participants from different regions and countries to make this a truly International meeting not only for education but also for long term friendships to be fostered. So apply early to get a seat designated to your region or organisation which are limited.  The course in Penang is more costly than in 2010 for valid reasons listed below.

However, in order to support Asian radiologists working in Asia whose income is lower we have decided to charge a subsidised rate of RM 3280.00

( 1 US =3.11 plus bank charges/credit card charges )for South East Asians , Indian and Hong Kong radiologists. (not including bank or credit card charges , hotel or travel).

The course is now a FOUR DAY FULL DAY course is accredited by for CME points by the Medical Progress Institute of Great Britain.
The College of Radiology of Great Britain gives 4 points a day Category 1  for this conference and also the conference in Jakarta for those who are coming from the UK. ( no objection by RCR UK for CPD points applied by UK radiologist who attended the course) .

The reasons why the course is more expensive is explained in greater detail below:

1) There is increase in Speakers costs as we are paying more honorarium to the speakers than in our inaugural year where many of the speakers absorbed the costs.

2) We are intending to have five demonstrators and /or speakers to ensure more individual hands on attention ( subject to confirmation of one demonstrator)

3) We will provide more extensive materials for reading including books by speakers , book chapters, articles and gold medal meniscal calculator which will enable you to ensure you dont miss meniscal tears in the future. These materials are worth about US200.00 in themselves.

4. The course has been extended to FOUR FULL DAYS - and thus if your College of Radiology recognises our course which is certified by the Medical Progress Institute of Great Britain you will be able to apply for CPD recognition of the course.

5. Increased amount being paid for Management of the course and hotel rates have increased since 2010.

Testimonials of the Jakarta MSK MRI and Ultrasound Course which does not have as many faculty and nice beach resort venue like the Penang Course was given very good rating and testimonials which you can read on this site. This is  probably the most comprehensive and best course to learn MSK MRI and Ultrasound in four days in Asia.

D) REGISTRATION FEE FOR 2011 -  based on 1 US = 3.11 ringgit.

In order to support Asian radiologists working in Asia whose income is lower we have decided to charge a subsidised rate of RM 3285.00 for those WORKING IN ASIAN COUNTRIES EXCEPT MIDDLE EAST.

IT IS BEST FOR YOU TO PAY BY CREDIT CARD AS YOU WILL BE BILLED IN MALAYSIAN RINGGIT WHICH IS FIXED.

OTHERWISE YOU COULD LOSE MORE IN BANK CHARGES BY PAYING IN BANKERS CHEQUES.  CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS WERE SAFELY USED IN PENANG 2010.

ASIAN REGISTRATION. (THOSE WORKING IN ASIAN HOSPITALS)
COST Ringgit Malaysia   RM  3285.00

USA, EUROPE AND MIDDLE EAST . KOREA AND JAPAN ( THOSE WORKING IN HOSPITALS IN THESE REGIONS)

COST Ringgit Malaysia  RM 3950.00

The registration IS NOT BASED ON RACE of the person eg Indian working in Middle East has to pay middle east rates and not Indian rates.

Credit card charge which is the best method to pay can  reduce overall charges and  is 3% of the above amount.

Bankers draft charges - loss on conversion in Malaysia is US 15.00 on average.

SO ADD 3% if you are paying by credit card and US 15.00 if you are paying by Bankers cheque before sending the amout.

DO YOU THINK THIS COURSE IS EXPENSIVE . Then please go to the following link and you will sign up immediately for this course.

http://www.mskus.com/Training-Programs-Workshops-on-site-training-for-Musculoskeletal-Ultrasound-Imaging.html.

The reason our course is cheaper at present is the speakers  and demonstrators are not taking their full honorarium in order to support Asian radiologists .

PLEASE SEND EMAIL TO PROF DR JOHN GEORGE AT msk.rad@gmail.com

to secure your seat before making payment .

HOTEL RATES FOR DELEGATES - CHEAPEST RATES WITH NO COMMISION TO CONFERENCE.( LET US KNOW IF YOU CAN GET CHEAPER AT THIS HOTEL FOR THE SAME PACKAGE )

Hotel rates at Holiday Inn Penang range from RM 250 for Hillview single , RM 280 Hillview Double,

RM 280 Sea view Single and RM 310 for Seaview Double.

( ALL RATES ABOVE ARE NETT INCLUDING ALL TAXES  WITH SINGLE OR DOUBLE BREAKFAST)

If you confirm your seat early , you will be able to take advantage of cheap airfares. That is one reason to pay early.

Course starts 8am on Wed 23rd March and end at 6pm on March 26th so you can book your flights accordingly to ensure you do not miss any portion of the course. No early dismissal is allowed as all components of the course hours are necessary for completion of the course. Please bring along your laptop as you will download a special programme to view the videos.
